Ram is an Indian film director, writer and actor. His full name is Ram Subramaniam. He was born on 11th October 1974 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. Ram made his directorial debut with Kattradhu Thamizh (2007), a film that earned strong critical acclaim for its raw portrayal of an educated youth struggling with unemployment and identity crisis. The film introduced audiences to Ram’s signature filmmaking style—emotionally intense, socially conscious, and rooted in realism.

Ram second film, Thanga Meengal (2013), further established his reputation as a master storyteller. Centered around the tender relationship between a father and his daughter, the film touched hearts and won three National Film Awards, including Best Tamil Feature Film. In 2017, Ram directed Taramani, which explored urban relationships, gender roles, and social hypocrisy.
