Rajat Arora is a renowned Indian screenwriter known for his work in Hindi-language films and television. Over the years, he has penned several successful screenplays, including Taxi No. 9211 (2006), Chandni Chowk to China (2009), Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai (2010), The Dirty Picture (2011), Kick (2014), Gabbar Is Back (2015), Azhar (2016), and Baadshaho (2017). He has also contributed significantly to Indian television by writing for the long-running crime series CID. Arora is especially known for his frequent collaborations with director Milan Luthria, with whom he has worked on multiple acclaimed projects.
Born in New Delhi, Arora pursued his academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Delhi University. He further honed his skills in filmmaking at the Asian Academy of Film & Television. Rajat began his career in the film industry by writing dialogues for Bluffmaster (2005), directed by Rohan Sippy. His breakthrough came with Taxi No. 9211 (2006), marking the beginning of his successful partnership with Milan Luthria. The duo collaborated on hits like Once Upon a Time in Mumbai (2010), The Dirty Picture (2011), Once Upon ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara! (2013), Baadshaho (2017), and Tadap (2021). He also worked with other prominent filmmakers like Nikhil Advani (Chandni Chowk to China) and Sajid Nadiadwala (Kick).
Expanding his repertoire, Arora wrote the additional screenplay for Gabbar Is Back (2015), produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and later scripted the Hindi version of Captain Marvel (2019) and the bilingual biopic Thalaivii (2021). Venturing into production, he co-produced the Netflix Original Plan A Plan B (2022). With a career spanning films, television, dubbing international content, and streaming platforms, Rajat Arora continues to be a prolific and versatile figure in Indian cinema.
