Radhika Sarathkumar is a veteran Indian actress, film producer, director, and politician known for her extensive body of work in Tamil and Telugu cinema, television serials, and web series. She has also acted in Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada films. Over her illustrious career, Radhika has received numerous accolades, including a National Film Award, two Nandi Awards, three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, and six Filmfare Awards South. Her versatile performances and contributions have made her one of the most respected and influential figures in the South Indian entertainment industry.
Radhika was born to renowned actor M. R. Radha and Geetha. Her father hailed from a Telugu family in Chennai, while her mother was a Tamil from Sri Lanka. Radhika pursued her education in India and Sri Lanka and later enrolled in a course in London, which she eventually discontinued. She comes from a family deeply rooted in the film industry, with her younger sister Nirosha also being an actress, and her half-brothers Radha Ravi and M.R.R Vasu having established careers in acting as well.
On the personal front, Radhika married actor Sarathkumar on 4 February 2001. Their friendship had blossomed over the years, having co-starred in films like Namma Annachi (1994) and Suryavamsam (1997). The couple has a son named Rahul, born in 2004. Radhika also has a daughter, Rayane, born in 1992 from her previous marriage. In 2016, Rayane married cricketer Abhimanyu Mithun, making Radhika a proud grandmother to a grandson and a granddaughter.
