R.S. Prasanna is an acclaimed Indian filmmaker known for his unique storytelling and refreshing take on contemporary issues. He made his directorial debut in 2013 with the Tamil romantic comedy Kalyana Samayal Saadham, which tackled the sensitive subject of erectile dysfunction with humor and sensitivity. The film was both a critical and commercial success, earning praise for its unconventional theme.

In 2017, Prasanna directed the Hindi remake of his debut film, titled Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, produced by Anand L. Rai’s Color Yellow Productions. The film broke societal taboos and became a major box office hit, further establishing Prasanna’s reputation as a bold and creative filmmaker. His work earned him a nomination for Best Debut Director at the Zee Cine Awards and a place on Rajeev Masand’s Top 5 Films of 2017. He was also invited to Rajeev Masand’s Directors’ Roundtable alongside noted directors like S.S. Rajamouli.

Beyond commercial cinema, Prasanna directed On A Quest (2015), a biographical film on spiritual leader Swami Chinmayananda Saraswathi. The film, made with amateur actors from the Chinmaya Mission, was released to commemorate the teacher’s 100th birth anniversary. This project reflected Prasanna’s versatility and passion for meaningful storytelling across genres.
