The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has taken strict action against Indian digital platforms propagating false information amid rising regional tensions. In a bold move, PTA has blocked multiple Indian YouTube channels and websites that were found to be spreading fake news and anti-Pakistan propaganda.
According to PTA’s official statement released today, a total of 16 YouTube news channels, 31 specific YouTube video links, and 32 Indian media websites have been blocked in Pakistan. These channels were accused of publishing baseless and provocative claims designed to mislead the public and create panic during a sensitive time.
The decision came after several Indian YouTubers and media outlets falsely reported that major Pakistani cities like Lahore and Karachi had been attacked or overtaken, and that high-ranking officials had been arrested. These claims were entirely fabricated, and no such events occurred. In reality, there was complete peace across the country, and the misinformation was quickly exposed.
PTA stated that the action was taken to curb the spread of disinformation and maintain public order during the ongoing conflict. The authority emphasized the importance of verifying content before sharing it, especially during times of national importance.
This move follows similar actions taken by Indian authorities in the past, where several Pakistani channels and content creators were also blocked in India. With both sides using digital platforms to push narratives, the internet has become a new battleground for influence and propaganda.
The PTA has urged Pakistani citizens to remain vigilant, avoid engaging with suspicious content, and rely only on verified sources for news and updates.
