Priyamani is an Indian Actress and Former Model. She was born on 4 June 1984 in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. The Telugu film Evare Atagaadu marked Priyamani’s acting debut in 2003.
When she starred as Muththazhagu in Paruthiveeran in 2007, she won a National Film Award for Best Actress and a Filmfare Award for Best Actress in Tamil.
A few of her notable works include Raam (2009), Raavan (2010), Raavanan (2010), Pranchiyettan & the Saint (2010), Chaarulatha (2012), and Idol Ramayana (2016). She has also judged several dance reality shows across South Indian languages.
The Bollywood film Chennai Express featured her in an item number. Her film projects include The True Story, a Malayalam film, and Chandee, a Telugu film in which she plays Ganga, the granddaughter of a freedom fighter who seeks revenge for her family’s hardships. She was starring opposite Darshan in the Kannada film Ambareesha (2014).
As part of PETA’s 2014 ad campaign, she posed for an ad asking the public to boycott zoos with caged tigers. As well as The Family Man 2, Priyamani will also appear in Narappa and Virata Parvam, co-starring Venkatesh and Rana Daggubati. In 2023 she will be co-starring with Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan.
She was raised by her father, Vasudeva Mani Iyer, who owns a plantation business, and her mother, Lathamani Iyer, a former member of the Indian national badminton team. His brother Vishakh is an entrepreneur. Kamala Kailas, the Carnatic vocalist’s granddaughter, is her great-grandmother and cousin of actress Vidya Balan and niece of playback singer Malgudi Shubha.
