Pragya Nagra (born 14 December 1998) is an Indian actress who primarily works in Tamil and Malayalam cinema. She made her film debut in the 2022 Tamil romantic comedy Varalaru Mukkiyam, where she played the role of a Malayali girl opposite actor Jiiva. Despite the film receiving negative reviews, her performance caught the attention of industry professionals, marking her as a promising new talent.

Born into a Punjabi family in Ambala, Haryana, Pragya completed her education in Delhi, where she pursued engineering while also nurturing an interest in modelling. Her father served in the Indian Armed Forces and was posted in Chennai for a time, which led to frequent visits that influenced her interest in South Indian culture and cinema. During college, she was active in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and initially aspired to join the armed forces. However, her growing passion for performance arts led her to appear in over 100 commercials before transitioning to films.

Following her debut, she appeared in the Malayalam film Nadikalil Sundari Yamuna, portraying a Kannada girl in a socio-political drama. Pragya’s diverse roles and language versatility have begun to pave the way for a wider acting career, potentially extending into Telugu and even Bollywood films in the future. With a strong background in modelling and a disciplined foundation from her NCC days, she continues to be a rising star in the Indian film industry.
