Pierre Perifel is a French filmmaker and animator acclaimed for his dynamic work in both short and feature-length animation. He gained widespread recognition for directing Bilby (2018), a DreamWorks Animation short film that showcased his storytelling finesse and animation skills. Perifel made his feature directorial debut with The Bad Guys (2022), a stylish and inventive heist film that became a commercial and critical success. He is set to continue that momentum with the upcoming sequel, The Bad Guys 2 (2025), solidifying his place as a creative force in modern animation.
Born in Lyon, France, Perifel discovered his passion for animation during high school. He began his formal artistic education at École Émile-Cohl and later transferred to Gobelins, l’École de l’image, one of the world’s most prestigious animation schools. At Gobelins, he collaborated with classmates on several acclaimed student projects, including A Swell Plan and Festival Qualité. His thesis film, Le Building, co-directed with a team of fellow students, blended 2D and 3D animation to great acclaim. The film screened at international festivals and won multiple awards, including Best Undergraduate Animation at the Ottawa International Animation Festival.
Since graduating in 2005, Perifel has built a career defined by technical innovation, compelling storytelling, and a signature visual flair. His work continues to push the boundaries of animated filmmaking, earning him a reputation as one of the most exciting directors in the industry today.
