Namkoong Sun (남궁선) is a South Korean director and screenwriter, She was born on 4th September 1980 in South Korea. Namkoong Sun is known for his movie Digressions (2019), Nice to See Your Face (2021), Ten Months (2021), Time to Be Strong (2024) and Love Untangled (2025).
Most of her work centers on short films, where she has explored nuanced storytelling and social themes. She initially studied architecture at Seoul National University, South Korea, but her passion for cinema led her to pursue further education at the Film Department of the School of Cinematography, Korea University of the Arts. One of her most recognized works is the short film The Worst Friends, starring Kim Soo Hyun. Created as a student project, the film gained attention for its thoughtful reflection on societal issues. It was selected for screening at the 8th Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival, a prominent platform for emerging filmmakers.
The film competed in the City of Sadness category, with acclaimed director Park Chan-wook serving as the chief judge. The Worst Friends ultimately won the Best Work Award in its category, establishing her as a promising voice in the world of Korean short films and socially conscious storytelling.
