Mohit Suri is an popular Indian director and writer. He was born on 11th April 1981 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Mohit Suri began his career in the Indian film industry with humble beginnings, working as an office assistant for T-Series. He soon transitioned to the creative side, serving as an assistant director on Vikram Bhatt’s films Kasoor (2001), Awara Paagal Deewana (2002), and Footpath (2003). In 2005, Suri made his directorial debut with Zeher, a moderately successful romantic thriller that marked the start of his journey as a filmmaker.
Mohit Suri followed this with impactful films such as Kalyug (2005), Woh Lamhe (2006), and Awarapan (2007), each showcasing his flair for emotional depth and intense storytelling. His expertise in weaving romance with suspense came to the forefront with Raaz: The Mystery Continues (2009) and Crook (2010). However, his breakthrough came with Murder 2 (2011), a psychological thriller that became one of the highest-grossing films of the year.
Suri then solidified his status as a hitmaker with back-to-back musical blockbusters—Aashiqui 2 (2013) and Ek Villain (2014). Both films not only performed exceptionally at the box office but also gained cult status for their soulful soundtracks and gripping narratives. While Hamari Adhuri Kahani (2015) and Half Girlfriend (2017) did not meet expectations, Suri returned to form with Malang (2020), a dark, romantic suspense thriller that received critical and commercial acclaim.
In 2022, Mohit Suri directed Ek Villain Returns, featuring John Abraham and Arjun Kapoor, continuing his legacy of intense, music-driven cinema. Suri’s upcoming projects include a much-anticipated film with Varun Dhawan and the sequel Malang 2.
His next release is Saiyaara (2025), a romantic drama produced by Yash Raj Films, starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. The film, scheduled to release on July 18, 2025, marks his first collaboration with YRF and promises to blend romance, music, and fresh talent in signature Suri style.
In addition to directing, Suri has been involved in creative supervision, script development, and music curation for several of his projects—earning recognition for shaping the modern romantic thriller genre in Bollywood.
