It was a romantic drama in which she gave a remarkable performance. Later, she made appearances as a lead actress in many Kannada, Hindi and Tamil movies.

In the year 2016, Mohanan starred in her debut Kannada movie, Naanu Mattu Varalakshmi, starring alongside Prithvi and Prakash Raj. She served as a police officer in the crime thriller The Great Father in 2017. She has also worked in the dramatic movie Beyond the Clouds by Majid Majidi as a poor girl from the dhobi ghat region in 2017. She appeared in the Tamil suspense action movie Master in 2021 opposite to Vijay, in which she acted as Charulatha, a University professor.
