Lola Tung is an American actress, singer, and model, best known for her breakout role as Isabel “Belly” Conklin in the Amazon Prime Video series The Summer I Turned Pretty, adapted from the novel by Jenny Han.
Born and raised in New York City, Tung comes from a diverse heritage—her mother is of Chinese and Swedish descent, and her father is of Eastern European descent. Her maternal grandmother hails from Sweden. From a young age, she was involved in the performing arts, participating in middle school productions such as Little Shop of Horrors and The Wizard of Oz.
She attended the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, graduating in 2020 with a major in drama. During her time there, she also performed in a production of Rent with her extracurricular theater group. That fall, she enrolled in the BFA acting program at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama. After completing her first year, Tung paused her studies to take on the role of Belly in The Summer I Turned Pretty, marking her professional acting debut.
