Khalid Ahmed is a notable Pakistani television director, producer & actor. He was born on 1st Janaury 1950 in Patna, Bihar, India. He is best known for his roles in dramas Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Talkhiyaan, Maya, Kya Yeh Sab Drama Hai and Dilara. In the 1970s, he moved to Pakistan as a teenager. Despite an early interest in the arts (he learned to play the banjo and Hawaiian guitar), he first earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of California, where he also taught the subject for a time at NED University in Karachi before going to study theatre at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Imtiaz Ali, a Bollywood director, is his nephew.

Ahmed’s TV show, ‘Talkhiyan,’ which aired in India, received positive feedback. He believes that one of the reasons why Pakistani dramas are so popular in India is that they provide something new to the viewers. At the Harlem International Film Festival in New York, Khalid Ahmed received the Best Actor for his performance in ‘Waiting,’ making him the first Pakistani to achieve it. He was also recognized for his role in Sakina Samo’s directorial debut, Intezaar.
