Jeremy Boring, professionally known as Jeremy Davies (born October 28, 1969), is an acclaimed American actor known for his distinctive roles in both film and television. He gained early recognition for his breakout performance as Ray Aibelli in Spanking the Monkey (1994), followed by his memorable role as Corporal Upham in Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan (1998). Davies continued to build his reputation with roles in Ravenous (1999), Solaris (2002), and Dogville (2003). He portrayed cult leader Charles Manson in Helter Skelter (2004) and starred as Sergeant Gene DeBruin in Rescue Dawn (2006). His portrayal of Daniel Faraday on the hit series Lost (2008–2010) cemented his status as a compelling television actor.
Davies won a Primetime Emmy Award in 2012 for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Dickie Bennett on Justified (2011–2015), and later earned a BAFTA Award for Best Performance in a Video Game for voicing and performing Baldur in God of War (2018). Born in Traverse City, Michigan, to children’s author Mel Boring, Davies adopted his mother’s maiden name professionally. After her death in the 1970s, he lived with his father in California and later moved to Iowa, graduating high school before studying acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in California. His emotionally rich performances and eccentric screen presence have made him a unique force in modern acting.
