Jeetendra (born Ravi Kapoor on 7 April 1942) is a legendary Indian actor renowned for his extensive work in Hindi cinema, with a career spanning over six decades and appearances in more than 200 films. He made his acting debut with Geet Gaya Patharon Ne (1964), but it was his breakthrough performance in Farz (1967) that catapulted him to stardom. Known for his energetic dance moves and charming screen presence, he earned the nickname “Jumping Jack” of Bollywood. Through the late 1960s to the 1980s, Jeetendra remained a consistent box office draw, delivering numerous hit films and becoming a staple in commercial Hindi cinema.
He starred in a wide range of top-grossing films such as Jeene Ki Raah, Khilona, Caravan, Dharam Veer, Swarg Narak, Himmatwala, Tohfa, and Thanedaar. Alongside his commercial hits, he also earned critical acclaim for roles in films like Boond Jo Ban Gayee Moti, Parichay, Kinara, and Priyatama, where his performances showcased depth and emotional range. In the 2000s, Jeetendra shifted focus to film and television production. He founded Balaji Motion Pictures, a part of Balaji Telefilms, which went on to become one of the most influential entertainment production companies in India, spearheaded by his daughter Ekta Kapoor. Even after stepping away from the limelight, Jeetendra remains a respected figure in the industry, admired for his contributions to Indian cinema both as an actor and a producer.
