Jaswinder Singh Bhalla, better known as Jaswinder Bhalla, is an Indian Punjabi actor and comedian. He was born on 4th May 1960 in Doraha, Ludhiana, Punjab, India. He is known for always using taglines in his movies, and bringing a comic touch to them. Jaswinder Bhalla is known for Chankatta (203), Carry on Jatta (2012), Rangeelay (2013) and Band Vaaje (2019), Carry On Jatta 3, Udeekan Teriyan (2023), Dil Hona Chaida Jawaan (2023), Carry on Jattiye (2024), Jatt and Juliet 3 (2024) and Fer Mamlaa Gadbad Hai (2024).
In 1975, he got selected for All India Radio after performing on Independence Day and Republic Day shows with a friend. In 1988, he started a professional career along with co-performer Bal Mukund Sharma with the audio cassette Chhankata 1988. He started his professional career as a comedian in 1988 with Chankata 88 and became an actor in the film Dulla Bhatti.
Jaswinder Bhalla did his Ph.D. in Agriculture Science from Punjab Agricultural University and is a full-time professor at PAU as well. Bal Mukund Sharma and Jaswinder Bhalla were classmates at Punjab Agriculture University. Word Chankata originated from the college-level annual show performed by Bhalla and Sharma in PAU. He also performs “Naughty Baba in Town” stage acts in Canada and Australia.
Jaswinder has worked in Punjabi feature films like Mahaul Theek Hai, Jeeja Ji, Jihne Mera Dil Luteya, Power Cut, Kabaddi Once Again, Apan Phir Milange, Mel Kara De Rabba, Carry On Jatta, Jatt and Juliet, Jatt Airways. In some Punjabi films, he always speaks with different Takia Klams.
Such as Mein Taa Bhannduu Bullan Naal Akhrote, Je Chandigarh Dhaijoo Pinda Warga Taa Rehjooo or Dhillon Ne Kaalaa Cot Aiven Ni Payeya. He said through his art, he highlights social evils like female foeticide, drugs, and unemployment.
Jaswinder Bhalla belongs to a Sikh family. His father Master Bahadur Singh Bhalla was a primary school teacher in the village of Barmalipur. He got his basic education from Senior Secondary School, Doraha, and later did his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Punjab Agricultural University, and his Ph.D. from Chaudhry Charan Singh University, Meerut. After that, he began his career as an Assistant Professor at PAU and Head of the Department of Extension Education and later retired on 31 May 2020
