Jama Taqseem Writer Sarwat Nazir Explains Zeeshan’s Punishment

Jama Taqseem Writer Sarwat Nazir Zeeshan Punishment

The popular Hum TV drama Jama Taqseem has caught the audience’s attention with its bold storytelling and realistic portrayal of family life. Written by Sarwat Nazir, directed by Ali Hassan, and produced under MD Productions, the drama stars Mawra Hocane and Talha Chahour in leading roles. The story dives deep into the complexities of a joint family system, exploring sensitive social issues that are often ignored on television.

In the recent episode, the drama took a shocking turn when Zeeshan was shown harassing his cousin Sidra while they were alone at home. The disturbing act is soon discovered by his uncle Qais (Chachu), who reacts strongly by sending Zeeshan away to a hostel. There, Zeeshan faces the same kind of torture and humiliation he caused others a clear reflection of karma and moral justice. This bold storytelling choice sparked major debate among fans, leading many to question the writer’s intent behind such a punishment.

To address the audience’s reaction, writer Sarwat Nazir recently appeared on Nadia Khan’s morning show Rise and Shine, where she discussed the thought process behind Zeeshan’s storyline. She explained, “Many people said it’s not the right solution, but sometimes we have to show karma. I wanted to keep it simple and realistic a natural reaction from a typical family when such an incident happens. If even one family learns a lesson from it, I’ll consider it an achievement.” Her words reflected her sincere attempt to blend social awareness with engaging storytelling.

Speaking further about the family’s handling of the issue, Sarwat Nazir added that the family shown in Jama Taqseem is traditional, and their approach represents how many real families would respond in such situations. She said that for them, the immediate solution is often to settle the issue quietly sometimes through engagement between the people involved but she encouraged viewers to watch the upcoming episodes for how it unfolds.

Sarwat Nazir also shed light on the larger message of the drama. She shared that most dramas about joint families highlight the positive side of living together, while the darker realities are rarely discussed. According to her, “Harassment between cousins is a serious issue that’s often ignored. It happens when families live under one roof but remain unaware of what goes on because parents are too busy.” Through Jama Taqseem, she aimed to create awareness about this sensitive topic and spark important conversations within society.
