Imran Abbas Urges Film Muharram

Pakistani actor Imran Abbas, best known for hit TV dramas like “Khuda Aur Mohabbat 2,” “Dil‑e‑Muztar,” and “Darr Khuda Say,” recently made a heartfelt appeal regarding film releases. In a statement shared on Facebook, he urged producers and distributors to show respect for sacred months like Muharram, Rabi’ al‑Awwal, and Ramadan by avoiding releasing movies during those early days.

Imran pointed out that he has never seen a movie premiere on the first day of Muharram in Pakistan, and he believes that is the right tradition to follow. He stressed that this request isn’t about differences between Sunnis and Shias, but about respecting certain days that have special importance for Muslims.

In his post, Imran recalled how Pakistan Television used to broadcast without music during the early days of Muharram – a long‑standing mark of respect. He expressed concern that even events involving music and dance are now being shown on the ninth of Muharram, ignoring its sacredness. He noted how families often choose to vacation or picnic during the last days of Muharram, reflecting the reverent mood of the period. Imran warned that soon there might be parties even on the first day of the Islamic new year, if care isn’t taken.

Imran made it clear that he’s not pointing a finger at actors, since performing is their job. But he believes that delaying a film’s release by just a few days wouldn’t hurt its success. He emphasized that honoring these months won’t affect box office results and is ultimately the responsibility of producers and distributors. In his words, “A few days delay won’t impact a film’s performance, but keeping religious sentiments in mind is something we can all do.”

His message is both respectful and practical, asking the entertainment industry to balance business goals with cultural and religious values. As someone who has starred in celebrated dramas like Khuda Aur Mohabbat 2, Tum Kon Piya, Dil‑e‑Muztar, and the social drama Darr Khuda Say, Imran’s words carry weight among fans and industry insiders alike.
