Himanshu Sharma is an Indian screenwriter and producer known for his work in Hindi cinema, particularly for writing the acclaimed Tanu Weds Manu series (2011 & 2015), for which he won two National Film Awards. His screenplay for Raanjhanaa (2013) was also highly appreciated, further establishing him as a prominent writer in the industry. His collaboration with director Aanand L. Rai on these films has been notably successful, delivering engaging stories that blend humor, romance, and social commentary.
Born in Lucknow to Jiwan Sharma, an officer with U.P. Tourism, and Shama Sharma, Himanshu completed his schooling at Spring Dale College, Lucknow. He later pursued higher education at Kirori Mal College, Delhi, where his interest in theatre and storytelling took shape. His early experiences in Delhi’s theatre circuit laid the foundation for his career in screenwriting.
Himanshu comes from a close-knit family with one younger sister and a brother. He was previously in a relationship with actress Swara Bhaskar. In January 2021, he married fellow screenwriter Kanika Dhillon, marking a personal and professional partnership within the film industry.
