G. V. Prakash Kumar (born 13 June 1987) is a renowned Indian music composer, playback singer, actor, and film producer predominantly working in Tamil cinema. He made his debut as a composer with Veyil (2006), produced by director S. Shankar, and quickly rose to fame in the Tamil film industry by the early 2010s. Known for his versatile musical style, Prakash has been honored with several accolades, including one National Award, three Filmfare Awards, and three SIIMA Awards. His transition into acting was marked by his debut in the horror-comedy Darling (2015), further expanding his popularity.

Hailing from a musically-inclined family, Prakash is the son of G. Venkatesh and playback singer A. R. Reihana, who is the elder sister of music maestro A. R. Rahman. His sister, Bhavani Sre, is also active in the film industry. In his personal life, Prakash married his childhood friend and singer Saindhavi in 2013. The couple welcomed their daughter, Anvi, in 2020. However, after more than a decade together, the couple announced their separation in May 2024.

Prakash’s music career is marked by several critically acclaimed projects. He first lent his voice as a child artist in Rahman’s compositions, later contributing vocals for Harris Jayaraj’s Anniyan (2005) and Unnale Unnale (2007). As a composer, his works in films like Madrasapattinam (2010), Aayirathil Oruvan (2009), Aadukalam (2010), and Mayakkam Enna (2011) garnered widespread acclaim. His collaborations with actor Dhanush and director Selvaraghavan produced iconic songs like “Kadhal En Kadhal” and “Pirai Thedum.” Prakash is praised for pushing his creative boundaries and delivering music that resonates deeply with audiences, establishing him as one of the most influential musicians in South Indian cinema.
