C. Aswani Dutt is an Indian film producer. He was born on 15 September 1950 in Andhra Pradesh, India. Aswani Dutt is the founder of the renowned production company Vyjayanthi Movies. Under the banner of the production house which was established in 1974, Dutt has bankrolled some of the most iconic Tollywood movies in the past four decades. Among these are blockbusters featuring leading actors of different generations: NT Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, NTR Jr., and Ram Charan Tej to name a few.
Besides his work in Telugu cinema, the producer has also ventured into Bollywood through movies like Company (2002) and Calcutta Mail (2003). Notable film credits in Tollywood include Yuga Purushudu (1978), Govinda Govinda (1993), Indra (2002), Sainikudu (2006), Shakti (2011), the biographical drama Mahanati (2018), the action comedy Deva Daasu (2018) and Maharshi (2019).
Aswani Dutt began his film career as an executive producer on the black-and-white film O Seetha Katha (1974). He wanted to produce a film with his favorite actor, N. Under the proprietorship of Aswani Dutt, Vyjayanthi Movies commenced production under the name of NTR after the garland on Lord Krishna’s neck. NTR named the production house after the garland of Lord Krishna. The logo of the production house contains an image of NTR as Sri Krishna, holding a Sankha in his hand and Earth behind him. Vyjayanthi Movies released Eduruleni Manishi (1975) with NTR and Vanisri.
Vyjayanthi Movies produced films starring NTR, ANR, Krishna, Sobhan Babu, Krishnam Raju, Chiranjeevi, and Nagarjuna.[5][15][16] Many of the films were directed by Bapayya and K. Raghavendra Rao.
C. Aswani Dutthas’s three daughters — Priyanka Dutt, Swapna Dutt, and Sravanthi Dutt. Priyanka Dutt is married to film director Nag Ashwin who previously directed the film Yevade Subramanyam (2015) under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner
