Brennan Clost is a Canadian actor and dancer, recognized for his roles in the Family Channel series The Next Step and the Netflix drama Tiny Pretty Things. Clost’s journey into the world of dance and acting started in his childhood in Burlington, Ontario. He faced bullying during his school years, with classmates making cruel comments and physical gestures like throwing snowballs at him. Despite these challenges, Clost focused on his passion for dance, studying at prestigious institutions like the National Ballet School of Canada and Springboard Danse Montreal, which laid the foundation for his future career in dance.
Clost initially considered pursuing medicine at university but was advised by his dance teacher to audition for the Juilliard School. In 2012, he successfully gained admission to Juilliard on a scholarship, becoming one of the only two male Canadian dancers accepted into the program that year. During his time at Juilliard, Clost’s choreography was featured in the Choreographic Honours Program and presented in elementary schools throughout New York City. He graduated in 2016, refining his skills and establishing himself as a professional dancer.
While his career has been marked by remarkable success, it has also come with its physical challenges. Through his dedication to dance, Clost has experienced several injuries, including a damaged ankle, Achilles tendinitis, and significant wrist and shoulder problems. Despite these setbacks, Clost has continued to push through, balancing both acting and dancing in his career. Clost is also open about his sexuality, stating that he does not label himself and identifies as “not straight.” His resilience and openness have made him a role model for many, both in the dance world and beyond.
