Baba Bhaskar is a versatile Indian dance choreographer, director, and actor primarily active in the Tamil and Telugu film industries, with contributions to Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada cinema as well. Known for his vibrant and energetic dance compositions, Bhaskar began his journey in Chennai, where his passion for dance led him to train under Paulraj. He later worked closely with veteran choreographers Shiva Shankar Master and Raju Sundaram, whose mentorship shaped his understanding of cinematic choreography and the intricate relationship between dance and storytelling in film.
Bhaskar began his film industry career as a background dancer, gradually making his way up with dedication and persistence. His big break came with the Telugu film Kotha Bangaru Lokam (2008), which brought his choreography into the spotlight. This success opened doors for him in Tamil cinema, where he debuted as a choreographer with Thiruvilayadal Aarambam. His dynamic choreography style earned him the opportunity to work with major stars such as Rajinikanth, Vijay, Ajith Kumar, Suriya, Dhanush, and Vijay Sethupathi in Tamil, as well as Nagarjuna, Mahesh Babu, and Ram Charan in Telugu films.
After establishing himself as a sought-after choreographer, Baba Bhaskar ventured into direction with the Tamil film Kuppathu Raja in 2019, starring G. V. Prakash Kumar. The film, which had begun production in 2017, marked his transition from choreography to filmmaking. The same year, he showcased his personality and gained a broader fanbase by participating in Bigg Boss Telugu 3, where he finished as the 2nd Runner-up. Known for his charisma, energy, and creative flair, Baba Bhaskar remains a respected and beloved figure in South Indian cinema.
