Ayesha Omar Show Lazawal Ishq Notice Issued

The Islamabad High Court has issued notices to several authorities on a petition filed against Ayesha Omar’s show ‘Lazawal Ishq’. The petition raises serious concerns about the content of the program, claiming that it goes against Pakistan’s social values and moral traditions. The case has drawn attention online as many people continue to debate the limits of creative freedom and cultural responsibility in digital entertainment.

According to reports, the order was issued by Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir during the hearing of a petition filed by Faik Shah, the Chairman of the Amun Taraqqi Party. The petitioner stated that the content shown in ‘Lazawal Ishq’ promotes vulgarity and social corruption. He further added that the scenes and dialogues in the show are harmful to young viewers and could negatively influence the country’s moral standards. He urged the court to impose an immediate ban on the show and take strict action against its creators.

The petition also requested that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and PEMRA be directed to strengthen their monitoring systems to prevent such content from being published or aired on digital platforms. The petitioner emphasized the need for responsible broadcasting, especially in online shows that reach a large number of young audiences. He claimed that unchecked digital content could damage cultural values and social norms that define Pakistan’s identity.

Additionally, the petitioner asked the court to seek guidance from the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) so that clear guidelines could be established for the screening and approval of future digital programs. This, he argued, would help prevent similar controversies and ensure that all media content aligns with cultural and religious principles.

After hearing the initial arguments, the Islamabad High Court issued notices to the federal government, PTA, PEMRA, CII, and the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCIA), directing them to submit written replies. The case is expected to continue in the coming weeks as the court reviews the content and implications of the show ‘Lazawal Ishq’.

The controversy has once again highlighted the growing tension between artistic expression and cultural boundaries in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. While some believe that creators should have freedom to explore bold ideas, others feel that content like ‘Lazawal Ishq’ must be regulated to protect moral and social values.
