Arjunan Jr. is an emerging Indian filmmaker making his directorial debut with the upcoming Tamil fantasy drama Genie. A former associate of acclaimed director Mysskin, Arjunan Jr. brings a fresh perspective to Tamil cinema with this project. Genie features Jayam Ravi in a dual role, alongside Krithi Shetty, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Devayani. The film is produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under Vels Film International and boasts music composed by A.R. Rahman.

Initially, Arjunan Jr. envisioned Genie with Kamal Haasan in the lead role. He spent three years attempting to pitch the script to Haasan but was unable to secure a meeting due to his status as a debutant director. Eventually, the script reached producer Ishari K. Ganesh, who suggested Jayam Ravi for the lead role. After narrating the script, Jayam Ravi agreed to the project, expressing enthusiasm by saying, “I’m your genie.

Genie is described as a fantasy film grounded in emotions, aiming to offer a magical realism experience without relying on typical cinematic violence. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on September 30, 2025, and will be available in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.
