Now, as she battles ovarian cancer, she continues to use her voice not just to share updates about her health, but to raise awareness and strength in others, especially women.
From the very day she learned of her diagnosis, Angeline Malik has kept her fans and the public informed. After undergoing chemotherapy sessions, she has openly shared her journey in stages, requesting prayers and support. More than just talking about her own experience, she has also used her platform to educate women about ovarian cancer a disease she calls “silent” because its early symptoms are often overlooked.
Angeline explained that many people asked her, “What are the signs of ovarian cancer?” She revealed that only about 20 percent of cases are caught early. Often, women dismiss warning signals as ordinary issues. Some of the symptoms she listed include persistent gas or bloating, abdominal swelling, reduced appetite, sudden changes in weight (either gain or loss), frequent urination, and unusual bleeding. Because these can seem like mild or common problems, many ignore them until it’s too late.
She shared a personal anecdote: while on a trip, she first noticed her stomach swelling but ignored it. It was only after returning to Pakistan and continuing discomfort that she went for tests. Ultimately, she learned she had Grade 3 ovarian cancer. Angeline stressed that early detection is possible. She recommends a simple CA-125 blood test and a pelvic ultrasound as effective tools for identifying this cancer early and points out that these tests are not very expensive.
