Abbas Tyrewala is an Indian director, story writer, screenwriter, and dialogue writer. He was born on May 15, 1974, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India . Abbas made his debut in the industry as a lyricist and wrote songs for movies like Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar! (2000) and Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega (2001).
He got his big break as a dialogue writer for the Shahrukh Khan starrer Asoka (2001). He ventured into direction with his directorial debut Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008) and moved on to Jhootha Hi Sahi (2010).
He has been associated with a lot of popular films owing to his writing skills. He has written the dialogues for Munna Bhai MBBS for which he was honored with a Filmfare Award for Best Dialogue.
His work in Maqbool was lauded and he received the GIFA Award For Best Screenplay for the same. Apart from this, he has been a part of many successful films like Lagaan, Darna Mana Hai, Welcome, Bang Bang, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, and Salaam Namaste to name a few. His 2019 release includes War.
