She began her career in the film industry as a teenager, working behind the scenes on major productions. Mundhra served as a production secretary for the Coen Brothers’ The Man Who Wasn’t There and O Brother, Where Art Thou?, as well as Spike Jonze’s Being John Malkovich. She was also a production assistant on Neil LaBute’s Nurse Betty.

Transitioning into independent filmmaking, Mundhra produced Bomb the System starring Mark Webber, which earned a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature. In 2005, she produced Waterborne, a gripping film exploring the aftermath of a terrorist attack on Los Angeles’ water supply. The film received the Special Audience Award at the SXSW Film Festival. Continuing her focus on socially conscious narratives, she produced Tanuj Chopra’s Punching at the Sun, which premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, was an official selection at Tribeca, and won the Grand Jury Prize at the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival.

After earning her graduate degree from Columbia University, Mundhra collaborated with fellow alumna Sarita Khurana to direct A Suitable Girl, a documentary that explores arranged marriage in modern India. The film premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival, further cementing Mundhra’s voice as a thoughtful and culturally grounded storyteller.

In 2018, she directed Bumble’s launch campaign in India, Equal Not Loose, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, promoting women’s empowerment in dating. Recognized for her rising influence, she was named one of DOC NYC’s 40 Under 40 Filmmakers.

Mundhra co-directed and produced the 2019 Oscar-nominated short documentary St. Louis Superman with Sami Khan. The film follows activist and politician Bruce Franks Jr. and won accolades at Tribeca before being acquired by MTV Documentary Films.

In recent years, Mundhra became widely known as the creator and executive producer of Netflix’s Indian Matchmaking, a global hit that sparked conversations around marriage, tradition, and modernity in South Asian culture.
