Kate Dolan is an American writer and director. She was born in United, States. Kate Dolan is known for her distinctive voice in horror and psychological storytelling. She began her career directing commercials and music videos, honing her craft and visual style. In 2014, she was selected for Berlinale Talents, a prestigious development programme for emerging filmmakers. There, she wrote and directed the short film Little Doll, which went on to premiere at the Berlinale in 2016 and received critical praise for its poignant storytelling and strong visual language.

Her next short, Catcalls, was funded by Screen Ireland in 2017. The film garnered international attention and screened at top festivals including BFI London Film Festival, Fantastic Fest, and Fantasia Film Festival. It won Best Short Film at the Young Director Awards Ireland in 2018, further cementing Kate’s status as a rising talent in genre cinema.

In 2016, Kate was selected for Guiding Lights, the UK’s leading mentorship programme for filmmakers, where she received guidance from industry veterans. By 2019, she was named one of Ireland’s leading emerging creatives under 30, highlighting her growing influence in the film world.

Her debut feature, You Are Not My Mother, a psychological horror rooted in Irish folklore, was set to premiere in the TIFF Midnight Madness section in September 2021.
