John Stephen Goodman (born June 20, 1952) is a highly respected American actor whose expansive career has spanned television, film, and voice work. He first gained prominence with his role as Dan Conner in the groundbreaking ABC sitcom Roseanne, a part he reprised in the spin-off The Conners. Goodman’s television repertoire also includes key roles in series such as Treme, Damages, Alpha House, and HBO’s dark comedy The Righteous Gemstones. A fan favorite on Saturday Night Live, he joined the elite Five Timers Club after hosting the show 13 times between 1989 and 2013.

In film, Goodman is perhaps best known for his longstanding collaboration with the Coen brothers, appearing in cult classics such as Raising Arizona, Barton Fink, The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, and Inside Llewyn Davis.
