Eid ul-Fitr 2025: Holiday Schedule & Moon Sighting Predictions

As the holy month of Ramadan 2025 begins in Pakistan on March 2 (Monday), Muslims across the country are preparing for a month of fasting, prayer, and reflection. Alongside spiritual preparations, discussions regarding the Eid ul-Fitr 2025 holiday schedule have already started.

Eid ul-Fitr 2025

Eid ul-Fitr is one of the most significant Islamic festivals, marking the end of Ramadan and celebrating the completion of a month-long period of fasting and devotion. It is a time of joy, gratitude, and giving, where Muslims come together with family and friends, attend special Eid prayers, and share meals. The government traditionally grants three public holidays to mark this occasion, but the actual number of holidays often depends on the moon sighting and official announcements.

Eid ul-Fitr 2025: Expected Date in Pakistan

According to SUPARCO (Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission), Ramadan is expected to last 29 days, concluding on March 30. If the Shawwal moon is sighted on that evening, Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated on March 31 (Monday).

However, if the moon is not sighted, Ramadan will extend to 30 days, meaning Eid ul-Fitr will fall on April 1 (Tuesday). The exact date will be confirmed by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after moon sighting observations.

Eid ul-Fitr 2025 Public Holiday Schedule in Pakistan

The government is expected to announce official Eid holidays, but based on past years, here’s how the holiday schedule might look:

If Eid Falls on March 31 (Monday)

  • Public holidays from March 31 (Monday) to April 2 (Wednesday)
  • Since March 29 (Saturday) and March 30 (Sunday) are weekends, people could get a five-day break (March 29 – April 2)

If Eid Falls on April 1 (Tuesday)

  • Public holidays from April 1 (Tuesday) to April 3 (Thursday)
  • As March 29 (Saturday) and March 30 (Sunday) are weekends, people might enjoy a six-day holiday stretch (March 29 – April 3)

What to Expect During Eid ul-Fitr 2025

Eid ul-Fitr celebrations in Pakistan are filled with religious and cultural traditions:
✔️ Special Eid prayers held at mosques and open grounds
✔️ Family gatherings with traditional feasts
✔️ Charity & giving—Muslims distribute Zakat al-Fitr to help the less fortunate
✔️ Shopping & festive events—markets will be packed with people buying Eid clothes, gifts, and sweets

Many people also take this opportunity to travel, either returning to their hometowns or going on holiday trips. Given the extended holiday break, a surge in domestic tourism is expected.

The official announcement of the Eid ul-Fitr 2025 holiday schedule will be made closer to the date by the Pakistani government. Regardless of when it falls, this festival will be a time of gratitude, celebration, and unity for Muslims across the country.
