Even though all schools, colleges, and universities in Punjab have been closed due to rising tensions between Pakistan and India, the British Council Pakistan has confirmed that today’s scheduled exams will still take place as planned.
In an official message, the British Council said, “All exams scheduled for today will go ahead as planned. We will let you know if anything changes. If you have any questions, please contact your school. Private candidates can get in touch with our Customer Services center for help.”
This update came just after Punjab’s Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, announced the closure of all educational institutions in the province on Wednesday. She said the step was taken to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff, following recent cross-border military activity between the two countries.
In a short statement, CM Maryam Nawaz explained that the decision to shut down schools and colleges was a precautionary measure. She said the security of students and educational staff was the government’s top concern during these uncertain times.
“Our main focus is to protect our people,” she said. She also added that future decisions about reopening schools would depend on advice from security and law enforcement agencies.
The closures come after serious military tensions erupted between Pakistan and India. The conflict started when Indian forces carried out missile attacks on different areas inside Pakistan and in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. In response, the Pakistan military shot down several Indian aircraft and also launched strikes on Indian military positions.
The situation remains tense, and people across the region are concerned about their safety. However, the British Council has made it clear that exams will continue unless further notice is given.
