Benazir Hunarmand Programme 2025 Launched – Free Skills Training for Pakistani Youth

President Asif Ali Zardari officially launched the Benazir Hunarmand Programme on Saturday, a new national initiative designed to equip young Pakistanis with advanced vocational training. The main goal of this program is to help the youth learn modern skills—especially in the fields of technology and foreign languages—so they can compete successfully in the international job market.

The launch ceremony took place at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad, where President Zardari explained that this new project builds upon the success of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). He said that while BISP helped millions of poor families across the country by offering financial aid, the Hunarmand Programme is the next step. It focuses on helping young people become self-sufficient through skill development and training.

President Zardari emphasized that this program is specially designed to meet modern job demands. Young people will receive professional training in several high-demand areas, including nursing, computer technology, and foreign languages such as German and Chinese. He highlighted nursing as a top-priority skill, saying that nurses are in great demand across the world, and Pakistan can benefit by preparing its youth to fill these roles abroad.

He also said that the Benazir Hunarmand Programme reflects the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, who strongly believed in youth empowerment and education. Her birthday was also observed on the same day, making the event even more meaningful. President Zardari promised to continue her mission by giving the country’s youth the tools they need to build a brighter and more independent future.

Senator Rubina Khalid, the Chairperson of BISP, also spoke at the event. She explained that the program will use BISP’s existing database to identify and reach out to deserving individuals. This will ensure that the support goes directly to those who need it the most. She said that this effort is not just about training but also about economic inclusion—making sure that people from poor and underprivileged backgrounds are not left behind.

To support all these efforts, the government has allocated a large budget for the Benazir Income Support Programme. A total of Rs. 716 billion has been set aside for BISP in the upcoming financial year, which shows the government’s strong commitment to fighting poverty and unemployment through skill development and education.
