The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially announced that there will be no changes to their squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan. The matches are scheduled to begin on July 20 at the Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
This is the same squad that recently defeated Sri Lanka in their home conditions, winning the T20I series 2-1. The team’s performance in that series was impressive, and the selectors have decided to stick with the same combination for the Pakistan tour.
After the squad announcement, Najmul Abedeen Fahim, the Chairman of Cricket Operations at BCB, shared the board’s strategy behind not making any changes. He stressed that the focus is on keeping the team stable in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup.
“We only want to make changes if absolutely necessary. For now, we are aiming for consistency and do not want to experiment too much. Stability in the squad is very important as we prepare for the World Cup,” Fahim explained.
This decision shows that Bangladesh wants to build a strong and confident unit by giving the same players more game time together.
The Pakistan cricket team, led by Salman Ali Agha, landed in Dhaka on July 16 to participate in the series. Their squad includes a mix of experienced players and some exciting new faces.
One of the major talking points is the debut of two fast bowlers — Ahmed Daniyal and Salman Mirza. Both players are expected to make their international debut in this series and have shown great promise in domestic and franchise cricket.
However, the squad also has some big names missing due to injuries and overseas commitments.
Pakistan will be without Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf, two of their star players, as both are recovering from injuries.
- Shadab Khan recently underwent successful shoulder surgery in the UK. He had been dealing with a long-standing issue that was affecting his performance, so the surgery was necessary to fully recover.
- Haris Rauf suffered a Grade 1 hamstring injury while playing for the San Francisco Unicorns in the ongoing 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC) season.
In addition, Hasan Ali is also not part of the squad as he is currently playing for the Birmingham Bears in the Men’s Vitality Blast tournament in England.
These absences have opened the door for fresh talent, and it will be interesting to see how Pakistan’s new-look squad performs on Bangladeshi soil.
T20I Series Schedule
The three T20 matches will all take place at the Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. The full schedule is as follows:
- 20 July – 1st T20I (6:00 PM local time)
- 22 July – 2nd T20I (6:00 PM local time)
- 24 July – 3rd T20I (6:00 PM local time)
This series is expected to be exciting, especially considering the last time these two teams played — Pakistan defeated Bangladesh 3-0 at home in May 2025. Bangladesh will be looking for revenge and to make a strong statement before the World Cup.
