Peshawar Zalmi, in partnership with the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the provincial government, has announced a special Flood Relief Exhibition Cricket Match. The main purpose of this match is to raise funds and provide support for the victims of the recent devastating floods in different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The event is being organized under the inspiring slogan “Khel Se Khidmat” (Service through Sports), highlighting the idea that sports can play a strong role in serving humanity and standing with those in need.
One of the biggest attractions of this charity match will be the possible participation of former Pakistan captain and star batter Babar Azam, who is expected to play if his schedule allows. The exhibition match is planned for Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium in Peshawar, a venue that has hosted several memorable matches in the past.
The highly anticipated contest will feature Peshawar Zalmi facing off against Legends XI, a team that will include both current cricket stars and retired greats. Fans can look forward to exciting cricketing action while also being part of a noble cause.
According to the organizers, all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated directly to flood relief and rehabilitation projects. The collected funds will help rebuild homes, restore communities, and provide urgent aid to families who have lost everything due to the floods.
Chairman of Peshawar Zalmi, Javed Afridi, emphasized the importance of this effort. He said:
“Cricket has always united the people of Pakistan. With this exhibition match, we want to turn our love for the game into meaningful action. This is not just about cricket—it is about showing our support to our brothers and sisters who are struggling after the floods. Standing by them in such times is our duty.”
The Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Syed Fakhar Jahan, also praised the step taken by Zalmi and the government. He remarked:
“Sports is not only about entertainment; it is also about unity, strength, and service. This exhibition match is a reflection of our commitment to stand with those who are suffering due to natural disasters.”
Cricket fans attending the event will not only witness an exciting game of cricket but also directly contribute to the lives of flood victims. The match is expected to be a historic moment in Peshawar’s sporting calendar, combining both passion and purpose.
The Zalmi franchise has called upon cricket enthusiasts, philanthropists, and the wider community to come forward and participate in this noble initiative. Their message is clear: by joining hands, we can use the power of sport to bring hope, relief, and positive change to those who need it the most.
