Quetta Qavalry has made a late but important change to its squad ahead of the upcoming season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League. Pakistan’s hard-hitting wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan has officially joined the team, replacing Sikandar Raza, who has withdrawn due to international duties.
Originally, Sikandar Raza was set to play a key role in Qavalry’s debut season, but Zimbabwe’s national commitments have forced him to stay back. Raza, who also captains Zimbabwe’s T20 team, will be leading his side in a home T20I series against Afghanistan starting tomorrow. After that, Zimbabwe will take part in a T20 tri-nation series in Pakistan next month, featuring Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe.
In response to Raza’s unavailability, Quetta Qavalry moved quickly to secure a strong replacement. The franchise announced Azam Khan’s signing through social media with an enthusiastic post, saying:
“Another big hitter gets into the saddle. Azam Khan is added to the Qavalry roster while Sikandar Raza fulfills national obligations. Khush Aamdeed, Impact Khan!”
Azam Khan’s inclusion adds both power and experience to the team’s lower middle order. The 27-year-old is famous for his fearless hitting and ability to turn games around in just a few overs. He has a long history with the Qavalry’s owners, having previously played for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) from 2018 to 2021. During that time, Azam earned a reputation as one of the league’s most explosive finishers, regularly entertaining fans with his big sixes.
Since leaving the PSL, Azam has become one of the most in-demand players in franchise cricket. He has featured in top leagues around the world, including the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), International League T20 (ILT20), Global T20 Canada (GLT20), and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Although his international T20 numbers — 88 runs in 14 innings — may not stand out, his raw strength and aggressive intent make him perfectly suited for the high-tempo nature of T10 cricket, where every ball counts.
For Quetta Qavalry, Azam Khan’s arrival strengthens an already exciting lineup that blends young talent with proven experience. The squad features several notable Pakistani cricketers such as Mohammad Amir, Khawaja Nafay, Abbas Afridi, and Arafat Minhas, alongside Azam.
The upcoming season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League will run from November 18 to 30, and this will be Quetta Qavalry’s first appearance in the tournament. With Azam Khan’s addition, the team looks even more dangerous and balanced. Fans will be eagerly waiting to see if the “Impact Khan” can bring his trademark power-hitting and light up Abu Dhabi with his explosive batting in Qavalry’s debut campaign.
