Applications Open for Free Solar Panels Under Sindh Government Scheme

The Sindh government has launched an ambitious plan to distribute free solar panels among low-income households in an effort to reduce electricity costs and promote the use of renewable energy. The scheme is designed for families that consume up to 100 units of electricity per month, making it a major relief for those struggling with rising power bills.

Applications Still Open

According to the Sindh Energy Department, applications are still being accepted from eligible households. Families who meet the electricity usage requirements can submit their applications to benefit from this initiative.

Distribution Plan

The provincial government announced that 200,000 families will be provided with free solar panels. Out of these, 77,000 families have already received solar panels, while another 123,000 families will get panels in the next phase.

If applications exceed the 123,000 available slots, the government will hold a lottery draw to ensure a fair and transparent selection process.

Minister’s Statement

Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that the government is committed to providing low-cost and eco-friendly energy to the people. He made these remarks at a ceremony organized by a private company at the Energy Department office, where solar home systems, inverters with lithium batteries, and panels were displayed.

He further added that the Sindh government had already set up the province’s first power plant under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The electricity produced at this plant is cheaper and is being delivered through the Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company (STDC).

Building a Sustainable Future

Through this program, the Sindh government aims to lessen the financial burden on poor households while also promoting the use of renewable energy. Experts believe that such steps could reduce Pakistan’s dependence on costly electricity sources and encourage a wider shift towards clean and sustainable energy solutions.
