All Public and Private Schools in Sialkot Closed Amid Flooding

The Deputy Commissioner of Sialkot has announced the closure of all educational institutions in the district due to severe flooding that has left many school buildings and grounds under water. This decision was taken to protect the lives and health of students, teachers, and staff members, as the situation in the affected areas remains unsafe.

According to the official notification, both government and private schools will stay closed from September 1 to September 5, 2025. Authorities explained that the temporary closure is a precautionary measure, as many schools are not suitable for classes at the moment because of stagnant floodwater.

The order was issued in line with the directions of the Punjab School Education Department, after reports confirmed that several schools across the district had been badly affected by the water. The notice was formally shared with the Commissioner of Gujranwala Division, the Chief Executive Officer (Education) Sialkot, the Deputy Director (Colleges) Sialkot, and the Section Officer (ACAD-I) Punjab School Education Department. In addition, all school heads in Sialkot have been strictly instructed to follow the closure orders without delay.

Officials highlighted that the main reason for this step is to avoid possible health hazards, such as waterborne diseases, and to ensure safety until the environment is fully restored. Cleanup and drainage operations are already underway in the flood-affected areas, but authorities stressed that it may take several days before schools can function normally again.

The district administration has urged parents to keep their children safe at home during this period and assured that further updates will be provided once conditions improve.
