Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has announced a major relief package of Rs. 120 million for students living in areas badly affected by recent floods. The decision was taken to make sure that students facing financial difficulties can still continue their education without interruption.
As part of this initiative, the university has completely waived off the current semester fees for matriculation and intermediate students who have not yet been able to pay. This means that these students will not have to pay anything for the Autumn 2025 semester. For those enrolled in graduation and associate degree programs, AIOU has offered a 50% fee concession, making it much easier for them to manage their expenses during these difficult times.
To further help the affected students, the university has also extended the admission deadline until September 15, 2025. This extension gives students in flood-hit areas more time to arrange documents, complete formalities, and secure their admission without additional stress.
According to university officials, the relief package has been designed to reduce the financial pressure on families who have lost much due to the floods. The main goal is to ensure that students do not have to sacrifice their education because of financial hardships. The officials also added that this step shows the university’s strong commitment to both education and student welfare.
This is not the first time AIOU has supported its students during a national crisis. The institution has a history of coming forward in difficult times, offering special concessions and policies to protect the future of young learners. By approving this Rs. 120 million package, AIOU has once again shown its role as a student-friendly institution that values the importance of education, even during challenging circumstances.
