IESCO Launches 'Apna Meter Apni Reading' App to Make Billing Easier and More Transparent

Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) CEO Muhammad Naeem Jan has announced a major step towards improving the electricity billing system. Speaking on Friday, he introduced a new digital initiative called “Apna Meter Apni Reading”, supported by a smart mobile application. This app will allow electricity users to take their own meter readings and send them directly to IESCO every month.

He explained that this new system is part of the government’s ongoing reforms, aimed at solving customers’ problems quickly and making electricity billing fair and transparent. The initiative has been launched with the help of the Ministry of Energy (Power Division), which is working actively to make power services more efficient and affordable for everyone.

“With this new smart app,” Naeem Jan said, “people can read their own electricity meters on a fixed date each month and submit the reading through the app. This will help avoid mistakes, delays, and errors in billing, and make the entire process smoother and more trustworthy.”

The main purpose of this initiative is to remove problems caused by human errors, such as wrong or late meter readings. Instead of depending on meter readers, consumers now have more control. By using the app, they can keep a close eye on how much electricity they are using and make sure their bill is correct.

CEO Naeem Jan also shared that all IESCO offices have received the proper instructions and tools from the government to support this new system. To make sure everyone understands how the app works, IESCO has started a wide public awareness campaign. They are informing customers through different channels so that more people can learn how to use the app and benefit from it.

“This is not just a new app – it’s a way to build public trust,” he said. “When people feel they are part of the system and can check their own usage, they are more likely to trust the billing process. It also makes the entire procedure open and honest.”

He added that IESCO has always supported customer-friendly policies, and this smart application is another big step in that direction. By giving consumers more power and information, the company hopes to create a better experience for everyone.
