Why Babar Azam Is the Real King of Cricket – Hasan Ali Explains

Pakistan’s fast bowler Hasan Ali has once again come forward in strong support of Babar Azam, calling him the best batter of this era. In an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan, Hasan Ali highlighted Babar’s consistency, temperament, and the respect he commands globally. According to Hasan, “Babar has proved with both his performance and his attitude that he is the greatest batter of our time. That is why we all call him the ‘King’.”

Hasan emphasized that the nickname “King” was not given lightly. “It’s not just a phrase I said—it came from the heart,” he explained, referring to his now-iconic catchphrase “King kar le ga,” which he often uses in support of Babar. He added that top international players like Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, and Joe Root praise Babar’s batting skills. “If you ask fans whether Babar’s cover drive is better than Kohli’s, most people would pick Babar’s,” he said confidently.

Hasan Ali and Babar Azam share a special bond, having made their international debuts around the same time. Recalling their early days, Hasan said, “We started our careers together. I’ve seen Babar rise through the ranks, score runs consistently, and work incredibly hard. He truly is the King of Pakistan cricket.”

Even though Babar has yet to win a major ICC trophy as captain, Hasan believes that Babar should still be ranked among Pakistan’s finest captains. “Trophies matter, yes, but the impact a captain makes on the team and how he inspires his players are equally important. Babar has led by example,” he said.

When asked about his future in cricket, Hasan revealed that he might consider retiring from T20Is or ODIs, but not from Test cricket. “As long as I am fit, I will never give up Test cricket. That format is my real love. It challenges you mentally and physically, and performing in Tests is the true test of a cricketer,” he said.

Hasan also opened up about his recent form and how hard work is finally paying off. “I’ve faced some tough times, but I never gave up. During the T20 Blast in England, my bowling rhythm was excellent, and my fitness was top-notch. Everything is now moving in the right direction.”

Speaking about his future in the national team, Hasan said he is focused on performing well. “It’s my responsibility to deliver strong performances, but selection is up to the PCB, the captain, and the management. I’ve had positive conversations with the head coach and the captain, and they’ve given me a clear plan to work on.”

Hasan also appreciated the transparency from team management. “When a player receives a clear message from the management, it builds confidence. Yes, it increases pressure as well, but I am happy that I know exactly what is expected of me.”

Hasan further shared his views on the global T20 leagues. “There’s money and glamour in T20 leagues, and there’s less pressure compared to international cricket. If a player participates in three or four leagues a year, he can earn a good living.”

However, he made it clear that money is not everything for him. “If you ask me personally, red-ball cricket is my passion. I might retire from T20s and ODIs one day, but as long as I’m fit, I will never think of quitting Test cricket.”

Hasan Ali’s heartfelt words reflect not just his admiration for Babar Azam, but also his own deep commitment to the game. From celebrating the brilliance of a teammate to expressing his love for Test cricket, Hasan’s views are a refreshing reminder that the spirit of the game still matters. With both players playing crucial roles, the future of Pakistan cricket looks promising—full of passion, performance, and pride.
